About Polari Labs
Polari Labs is a VC-backed startup based in London, UK. Polari Labs is pushing the frontier of sexual health innovation and building the world’s first platform for anorectal health and pleasure. Our team develops category-defining products to make the preparation for anorectal intercourse spontaneous and hassle-free. Anorectal health has been overlooked for too long, and Polari Labs is here to change that.
Anna and Henry met in April 2023 when both of them joined Entrepreneur First, a start-up accelerator that selects exceptional individuals to build their next company.
Before the inception of Polari Labs in July 2023, both of them quickly realized that they shared the same belief: they saw an opportunity to transform the world in the areas of medical innovation where most people saw taboo. They also realized that they were both part of LGBTQAI+ community and had a world-class combination of complementary technical and operational skills to design and commercialize new technology.
Today Polari Labs has grown to a team of 5, received funding, set up a lab in central London, developed the MVP, filed the patent for their technology and are working with the world’s leading experts in anorectal health in the UK and US. They have developed and engaged a community of future customers that cannot wait to get the product in their hands. The product has gone viral on social media ahead of the launch with more than 2M views.
About the role
I am looking for my right hand, an extension of me to run 2x faster – this could be you!
This person will speed me and the company 2x and support on the fundraising ops, admin tasks, accounting, HR, Company House maintenance, investor relations ops, data analytics for social media and marketing and other tasks that emerge in an early-stage start up. You will have visibility on virtually every aspect of the company and will have a steep learning curve especially in the beginning.
One day you will be diving into building the financial models and looking into the market size, the next day you will be managing my schedule, filing the VAT returns, and setting up company processes and culture together with the team.
This role is ideal for an extremely self-aware, proactive, organized and adaptable individual, 1-3 years into their career. Over time you will grow into the Head of Operations and will lead some aspects of the business.
How this role will be evolving
6 month – 9 months: Building a strong foundation.
Stage of the company: pre-launch
Working very closely with me, making sure that you know the company inside out, we will be working on helping me close institutional investment round, shaping the company’s processes and culture together with me and the technical team, ensuring that we develop an exceptional relationship of trust, to build a solid ground for progression of this role. I need to know that you back me 100% + help me and the team run fast. It will be challenging, and also creative, fun and exciting.
In the first 6 months expect this role to be closer to “extension of me” + execution + setting up the processes. Ownership and freedom combined with supervision, working closely and speaking often as I need to ensure that we are fully aligned.
9 months – 18 months: Ownership
Stage of the company – we are ramping up for the launch of the product in the UK
At this stage, we have already built a very strong foundation in our professional relationship, I trust you 100% and we understand each other very well and are fully aligned. You know the company inside out and the fact that you joined allowed us to move incomparably faster than before.
As we are ramping things up for the launch, you take full ownership of a few operational aspects of the business.
18 months – 2 years: Scaling
Stage of the company - we expand our operations geographically, ramping up for EU and the US launch. Company’s operations become much more complex.
At this stage depending on your performance and growth trajectory this role can progress to Head of Operations.
The initial 6 months are crucial for this role.
My goal in this professional relationship
Develop the relationship of exceptional trust, i.e. I trust you, as much as I trust myself. You will have visibility on virtually every aspect of the company and will have a steep learning curve especially in the beginning.
The way I define exceptional relationship is based on these 6 pillars (ref: Stanford interpersonal relationships course)
1. Authenticity – Being and encouraging each other to be your whole selves.
2. Vulnerability – Willingness to share even when unsure of the response.
3. Safety – Trusting that disclosures won’t be weaponized.
4. Honesty – Speaking truthfully, even when it’s hard.
5. Conflict-Productivity – Addressing issues openly, learning from them.
6. Growth-Orientation – Supporting each other’s development over time.
What you bring:
Exceptional organizational skills - able set-up automated processes from scratch to optimize the company’s speed, manage calendar, manage multiple deadlines, able to balance deep-thinking commercial work with operational and admin support.
Clear communication skills - you communicate directly, without beating around the bush. You are open to giving and receiving feedback and see it as an opportunity for mutual growth.
Self-awareness - you are extremely self-aware, you understand your emotions and communicate them clearly, you are obsessed with personal growth and self-improvement, you are open to changing your mind and approach things with curiosity
A proactive, problem-solving mindset - you don’t wait for instructions, you spot problems and act
Comfort working directly with the CEO in a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment where priorities change daily
